Modeled after the Kakejiku — the traditional Japanese hanging scroll — this pendant frames a single, quiet scene: a wild grapevine caught mid-growth, leaves unfurling, fruit just beginning to cluster.
Hand-fabricated in sterling silver and copper, the piece is built with real dimension rather than flat relief — the vine curves and winds its way down the panel, leaves layering forward off the surface and casting their own small shadows. The grapes are freshwater pearls in soft grey, nestled where fruit would naturally hang.
This isn't jewelry designed to catch light across a room — it's designed to be noticed, the way a good painting is noticed: slowly, on closer look. There's a wildness to the composition too, a sense of something growing on its own terms rather than being tamed into symmetry — echoing Wabi-Sabi, an aesthetic sensibility distinctly Japanese in origin, one Western jewelry design rarely draws on.
