In Japan, camellias are flowers often seen in winter. The red blossoms that bloom during a season when the landscape tends to turn gray bring brightness to the heart. This piece depicts a wild camellia with ivy climbing alongside it. The camellia flower is made of copper colored red using Hido, a traditional Japanese technique. The flower's center is represented by a golden-dyed Akoya pearl. The leaves are crafted from oxidized silver, with texture and engraving that brings them to life with realistic detail.
